The beginning of May is a special time of the year for us who are living in Veszprém: Around the 7th May, which is the name-day of Gisela, we remember the wife of our first king, Saint Stephen, Blessed Gisela of Bavaria, Queen of Hungary. Our city had been the property of the Hungarian Queens since thousand years, when King Saint Stephen had donated the town to his Queen, Gisela.
Gizella Days Arts Festival
21st Kabóciádé Family Festival
Kabóciádé Children's Festival is the festival for children and "eternal children". Come and see: the playhouses, puppet and scenery exhibitions, concerts, dancehouse, local and invited performances all around town.
Szentháromság tér (Holy Trinity Square), perhaps the most beautiful Baroque square of Hungary can be found halfway between Lake Balaton and the Bakony Mountains. Every year, beneath the August sky a miracle happens here for a few hours. The VeszprémFest attracts world-famous artists and every day of the festival is dedicated to a different musical character: opera, instrumental guitar music, world music, jazz and pop.
Street Music Festival
For a few days every July Veszprém becomes a real festival town: street formations of various styles (etno, jazz, blues, rock) play music in the town centre from morning to late night. There is an unrivalled atmosphere, cheerful bustle, old friends and, of course, music...
Fairy Tale Festival
This festival is for the children and for those "young at heart". Come and see! At the festival you can meet the great story tellers of today as well as the favourite fairy tales of the good old times of our childhoods, find out about the latest children's and young people's books and learn the most popular fairy tales of the 21st century.
