There are certain psychologist-turned-sommelier experts who claim that different wines suit different personality types.

Just to give you a few examples: Merlot is the perfect choice for those who are really sociable, cuvées are for the adventurous, Irsai Olivér is a wine for the more shy and reserved, while Chardonnay is best suited to the impatient.

Whether this is true or not, Veszprém has never been in the habit of categorising people by wine. Rather, it leaves the choice up to its visitors. The best occasion for this is the Rosé, Rizling, Jazz Days, a regular feature of Veszprém summers for over a decade.

This is the festival’s slogan, but despite its name, it is not only about Rizling, but all the products born in the vineyards of the Balaton Uplands. In fact, the organisers strive every year to ensure that there are also wines, sparkling wines and frizzante from further afield, and even from abroad. However, it is an eternal truth that it cannot be a real festival without music, so the best Hungarian jazz, blues and soul performers provide this at the Rosé, Rizling, Jazz Days, with 3 concerts a day for 10 days. And jazz is a style that is very often based on improvisation, with the music often influenced by the musician’s mood. So if you can only just categorise wines, music can not be categorised at all.

The Rosé, Rizling, Jazz Days always coincide with VeszprémFest, like a kind of side event to the large concerts. We would suggest combining the two experiences and planning to spend several days in Veszprém if you want to sacrifice yourself on the altar of good music and wine, or to simply discover your true personality through wine.
