Veszprém has won the prestigious 7th place in the European Best Destinations 2023 competition and is ranked first among the best family-friendly city breaks in Europe.
Every year since 2009, 20 of Europe's tourist destinations compete in the European Best Destination public vote to find out for themselves which city deserves the title of "best destination", relying on travellers' opinions. In 2019 and 2020 Budapest and Hévíz represented Hungary.
Veszprém's significant cultural attractiveness, the rich historical heritage of the city, and the title of European Capital of Culture for 2023 has already put the "City of Queens" on the map of unique European destinations. The city's international popularity is further enhanced by its excellent result in the European Best Destinations 2023 contest.
Veszprém’s participation in the competition is of great value, as it has competed against popular destinations such as London, Vienna, Athens, Copenhagen and Prague.
The "European Best Destination 2023" poll, which closed on 10 February, attracted more than 700,000 votes from 178 countries for Europe's best destinations. Our city received many votes from British, American, French and Irish travellers, in addition to the domestic votes. This clearly proves that Veszprém is also a top tourist destination in these nations.
With the end of the voting, Veszprém can proudly wear the title „European Best Destinations 2023” as well as the award "Best Family City Breaks in Europe #1", as the best family-friendly city destination in Europe.
