If you were to vote for the most romantic scenes in the history of film, the top ten would certainly include the two lovers meeting in the Titanic’s bow but also the catharsis of the musical Romeo and Juliet with its two lovers. It would surely include scenes from Love Actually, but The Notebook would also be fighting for a place upon the podium.
You could also compile a similar list of the most romantic places. In fact, one has already been done, and includes a place in Veszprém, and justifiably so. The place was named Szerelem-sziget (Love Island) by the people of Veszprém for good reason.
We should add that, despite its name, the place has nothing to do with islands, except that it really is a refuge from the distractions of the bustling city, somewhere you can retreat alone and hide on a small bench under a willow tree. Nobody would say anything if two lovers were to spend all their sightseeing time in this romantic place, but we really should just whisper that it is worth continuing your walk in the opposite direction to the River Séd. After all, Love Island is only a part of the Veszprém Valley walk, a several-kilometre-long wonder that has been voted the most beautiful in the country, where there is much more to discover.
