We look forward to hosting English language theater productions involving a minimum of two players from any school (university, high school and elementary school, public or private).
§ Troupes will be provided every necessities (lighting, sound, and stage setting) by the organizers and the theater technicians of the venue. Please note that the venue has Hungarian-speaking staff.
§ Theatre, English language and educational experts will provide feedback on the performances at group discussions.
§ The high school and university troupes will have the opportunity to participate in fun drama activities, as well as skills development workshops and presentations.
§ This is a festival for English language theatre lovers, so there will be no competition for awards among the performers. We facilitate networking and friendly socializing.
§ Please note that it is the sole responsibility of the troupes to check copyright issues and whether they are required to pay royalties to the author or publishing house for the performance of the play they have chosen.
§ Troupes may apply with a play written by the troupe or their teacher.
§ On the occasion of celebrating the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, American Corner Veszprem especially welcomes the troupes to either adopt the work of an American author or write their own play that displays American culture and/or history.
§ Troupes will need to provide for their own travel costs, meals, accommodation and any additional expenses. In cooperation with the Központi Kollégium of the University of Pannonia (Central Dormitory) we have made effort to help you with the booking, We will provide you more information about this after the application process has been closed.
Elementary school troupes
§ Elementary school troupes will perform on the first day of the festival (Friday).
§ Productions are in English and the running time should be between 10 and 15 minutes.
§ Each troupe will have about 15 minutes before the play to set their stage.
§ Each performing elementary school troupe must be accompanied by at least one teacher from their school.
§ Elementary school troupes are not required to stay for the whole three days of the festival.
High school and university troupes
§ High school and university troupes will perform on the second and third days of the festival (Saturday and Sunday).
§ We strongly recommend high school and university troupes to actively participate in all the programs throughout the three days of the festival.
§ Productions are in English and the running time should be between 30 and 60 minutes.
§ Each troupe will have about 30 minutes before the play to set their stage.
§ Each performing high school troupe must be accompanied by at least one teacher from their school.
§ Each performing high school and university troupes is requested to provide a student contact as well so as to relieve the teachers of the burden of carrying all the pieces of information.
