Ottó Fenyvesi (1954, Mol-Gunaroš, former Yugoslavia) is a poet, writer, and visual artist. He received the József Attila Prize in 2015 and has published sixteen books. His works have been translated into several languages, including German, French, Serbian, Croatian, English, Dutch, and Italian.
His literary style has been described as having "a strong rock and roll tension and rhythm – poems that hit your head with 5,000 watts.”
Most of the exhibited collages were created recently, especially for this exhibition. The collage as a technique is a hallmark of 20th-century avant-garde art movements, used by Cubists, Dadaists, and Surrealists alike. Notable names associated with collage include Max Ernst, Kurt Schwitters, Lajos Kassák, Robert Rauschenberg, and Jacques Villeglé.
This art form shares close ties with pop art, graffiti, and street art. Ottó Fenyvesi has been creating collages for over forty years, originally inspired by punk fanzines. Since then, he has delved deeper and deeper into this genre. He currently lives and works in Lovas, by Lake Balaton.
