One evening. One concert. Two worlds.
An immersive, interdisciplinary musical experience featuring the works of two contemporary composers. Sixty singers, one orchestra, one voice – the Filmhatás Project concert in Veszprém.
The programme consists of two thematic halves: two musical realms, two contrasting soundscapes – yet joined in a single artistic arc.
The first half presents works by Norwegian composer Ola Gjeilo, written for female choir and instrumental ensemble.
The NORD section evokes the silence of northern landscapes and the world of light and spirituality, with interludes and a gradually expanding instrumentation – from a cappella passages to the full orchestral sound. The music is cinematic, contemplative, uplifting, and profoundly beautiful.
The second half features ORIGO, a three-movement cycle by Hungarian composer Károly Halász. Though composed with the tools of film music, the piece conveys a deeply sacred soundscape, exploring the human inner journey, spiritual ascent, and the emergence of order from fragmentation.
The compositions unfold gradually from silence – through Gregorian-inspired motifs, raw Biblical texts, and fragmented phrases. The music not only sounds but surrounds: the choir and orchestra are arranged in multiple spatial dimensions, creating a unique sound environment that invites both an internal and external journey.
ORIGO is more than music – it is one vast, resonant question, with answers that each listener carries within.
