A retrospective exhibition of works by Szilágyi László / Lackó (1966–2007)—a painter closely associated with both the city of Veszprém and the punk movement—will open at the Csikász Gallery, organised by the House of Arts Veszprém.
Presented as part of the Hungarian Culture Week, the thematic selection has been compiled to mark what would have been the artist’s 60th birthday. The exhibition brings together works from museum and private collections, which may rightly be regarded as outstanding pieces from a fragmented oeuvre marked by intense and hectic moments.
In the hours preceding the exhibition opening (3:00–4:00 pm), an Open Studio programme will take place in Szilágyi Lackó’s former flat on Miklós Street. (18 Miklós Street, 8200 Veszprém).
The exhibition opens on Sunday, 25 January 2026, at 5:00 pm at the Csikász Gallery (17 Vár Street, 8200 Veszprém).
Welcome speech by: Gyula Porga, Mayor of the City of Veszprém with County Rights
The exhibition will be opened by: Ottó Fenyvesi, poet, writer and visual artist, recipient of the Attila József Prize
On the occasion of the Holtszezon (Off Season) Literary Festival, visitors are invited to attend a guided tour led by István Ladányi, literary historian and Associate Professor, on Sunday, 22 February 2026, at 4:00 pm.
