The artworks can be seen at the walking path leading up to the main entrance of Eötvös Károly County Library, at the Kálvin János Park and at the Cholnoky district close to Our Lady of Hungary Church. Two more statues will be installed at a later date, one of them will be close to the railway station and the other one will be on the university campus.
The aim of installing these statues at public places is to promote and to make an interesting discovery of Veszprém more well known. Dezső Laczkó, Piarist teacher and geologist found the remains of a tablet-toothed turtle (Placochelys placodonta) in the quarry on Jerusalem Hill at the beginning of the 20th century. The tablet-toothed turtle lived 200 million years ago in the age of Crete, it was a kind of turtle with shell and its length was about 80-90 centimetre.
The bronze statues portray tablet-toothed turtles performing human activities. For example the statue situated at the county library depicts a turtle reading a book which has the logo of the city on the cover. The statue at the Cholnoky district refers to geographer Jenő Cholnoky. The turtle can be seen with a camera, a compass, measuring devices and with a geologist's hammer. The statue displayed close to the skatepark of Kálvin János Park can be seen with a skateboard.
