While listing the high quality, wide ranging cultural treasures of Veszprém, “City of Queens”, you should not neglect the theatrical world. Veszprém is noted for having three theatre companies. One of these is the Kabóca Puppet Theatre, which on Deák Ferenc street 13. Veszprém city’s puppet theatre welcomes families in particular every Sunday, but there are performances for all ages in the repertoire. The puppet shows are recommended for children up to three years old, since the pieces are designed with the youngest age group in mind. They present adorable stories to the youngest age group with the help of shapes and colours; at the end of the performance, everyone joins in to play a game together. For the age group of four and upwards, there are around twelve shows to choose from each season; these included traditional and contemporary stories. Every month, the Kabóca Puppet Theatre awaits their audiences with a production for adults.
The Kabóca Theatre’s Kabóciádé Family Festival has become something of a tradition and is held every year in the cloisters and gardens of one of the most beautiful valleys in Hungary. Children are invited to three days of fun from morning to night, where they can enjoy a different puppet show every day or play in the playgrounds.
