Veszprém gives you many opportunity to the active recreation. There are a number of look-out points. With these you can know the city and around.
At the end of the Castle Street on the look-out turret you can see the statue composition of the Hugarian royal couple with the statues of Saint Stephen and Gisela which became the symbol of Veszprém.You can have a magnificent view of the town and the ranges of Bakony.
One of the symbols of Veszprém, firstly built as a watchtower but later on it was rebuilt to alarm in case of fire. Climbing up to the top of its spiral staircase we are going to have an unforgettable view on the city.
On the Northern side of the Castle narrow paved stairs lead down to the Benedict Hill which used to be the burial place of our ancestors.Visiting the cross, a marvellous panorama opens to the city, the Bakony, the meandering Séd brook, the Viaduct and the beautiful park of the Veszprém Valley.
The viaduct, which can be found in the Fejes Valley, is one of Veszprém’s well-known symbols. It overspans the waggly Séd stream in t he height of 50 m. This bridge is one of Hungary’s highest and most beautiful bridges. You can enjoy a fabulous panorama from the bridge and it’s halt-platform over the castle, the Séd Valley and the Bakony hills.
The special feature of the Harmat Street lookout point is that the silhouette of the Veszprém Castle and the Viaduct can be seen from the same point. Thus, we can photograph the two best-known symbols of Veszprém from the same place.
The 22-meter-high tower can be seen between the trees from afar. It is about a ten-minute walk from the upper parking lot of the Veszprém Zoo in the Gulya Hill Park Forest.
The special lookout tower of Jutas Vitéz, built from logs and forming a fossil layout, can be approached through the Aranyos Valley (Fenyves Street). From the 6.15 m high tower you can see the range of the Bakony from the northwest to the southeast, and from the south you can see the Aranyos Valley, with the unique silhouette of the city and the Castle in the background.
The Saint Stephen Church was situated in the thousand year-old part of the city, on the Hill of "Szent-Miklós-szeg", named after teh patron saint of industrial workers and merchants. Its recently discovered ruins and its environment were opened in the May of 2006.
