The Gisela Days are held in Veszprém every May.

These preserve Veszprém’s thousand-year-old tradition, yet also offer a modern experience. This multi-day festival is named after the wife of St Stephen, Queen Gisela, who was connected to her beloved Veszprém by many things – and this is not just a legend but also proved by numerous historical records. It is no coincidence that the Gisela Days are held on the weekend closest to the queen’s name day, when the city centre and the historic castle district come alive. Visitors may even meet the royal couple in person at the fairground with its period atmosphere, as a historical parade commemorating the founding of the state is one of the festival’s regular features. The programme is further enriched with concerts, playhouses, exhibitions and theatrical performances.

For the detailed programmes and performers of each anual Gizella Days Arts Festival, see the Monthly Programme menu for that year.
