Are you familiar with that iconic scene from the Harry Potter novels when, in the Goblet of Fire, the apprentice wizards enter an enchanted labyrinth of trees and bushes to find the Triwizard Cup?

There is no need to explain the thrills of a labyrinth to those who have read the book or seen the film, but those unfamiliar with the world of Harry Potter can also imagine what it’s like to walk along winding paths and through dense trees, surrounded by very strange creatures and noises.

Well, if your imagination is not vivid enough, all is not lost, as you can enjoy a similarly magical experience on Gulya Hill in Veszprém.

The winding paths are lined here and there with a playground, sports field, running track and picnic area, and as the zoo is really behind the trees, you can sometimes hear the roars of exotic animals. Then you just have to guess whether you have just heard the sound of a magical troll or a rhinoceros. And, like in the Harry Potter novel, the most important thing on Gulya Hill is to be found right at its heart.

The unique metal structure of the Queen Gisela Lookout is indeed like the former Hungarian queen’s crown. It rises 22 metres above the trees, so those brave tourists who find their way to it through the enchanted woods can admire the city and the Bakony Hills in the distance.
