Four Seasons, Two Worlds – A Piano Recital by Gergely Kovács

This year’s concert centers on two grand piano works. A Hungarian composer’s piano sonata titled “Four Seasons” takes us on a journey through four different worlds, moods, and states of mind. Although this is a contemporary Hungarian work, its musical language consciously draws on the Romantic tradition: it features sweeping melodies, a rich harmonic world, and virtuosic piano textures. The work’s international journey is also unique: it premiered in Singapore, and in February 2026, audiences were introduced to it during a European tour. Now it will be performed in Veszprém as well.

The other highlight of the evening is Sergei Rachmaninoff’s Piano Sonata in B-flat minor, which reveals the passionate, dramatic, and elemental side of Romantic piano literature.
