Kálmán Kollár – Memorial plaques to Lipót Auer and István Zámbó
8200 Veszprém, Vár utca 9.

The Veszprém Pantheon is located in the courtyard of the Fire Tower. It was founded by Ferenc Fenyvesi, former director of the House of Arts. Every August since 1996, at his initiative, a commemorative plaque has been placed on the wall of the rondelle under the Fire Lookout Tower in memory of the people and/or honorary citizens from Veszprém (or connected to Veszprém) who have done a great deal for the local communities. The Pantheon also commemorates the key figures in the city’s music scene. These include Antal Csermák, renowned icon of 19th century traditional Hungarian “Verbunkos” dance music, violinist and composer; Margit Kecskeméthy, the founder of the city’s school of music; as well as Kálmán Kollár and István Zámbó, outstanding figures of the Veszprém choir. All of these notables have been given their own memorial plaques on the walls of the rondelle. István Zámbó, Lipót Auer and Kálmán Kollár are seated together in the “musical corner” of the Pantheon. World-famous violinist, music teacher and conductor Lipót Auer is portrayed by sculptor Pál Kő, along with his famous violin.
