Operetta is one of the most exciting styles on the musical palette, and it's no coincidence that its popularity has been undiminished for decades. The Róbert Rátonyi Operetta Festival, organised by the Petőfi Theatre in Veszprém every June, is especially for operetta fans.

Róbert Rátonyi's name is probably not only familiar to those who are familiar with the theatre. The famous actor-director of the 20th century, with his bohemian lifestyle and his extreme dedication to the theatre, has written himself into the theatre's big book. Few people may already know that he spent the last years of his life in Veszprém, where he prepared for the production of The Queen of the Csárdás with his characteristic dedication. Sadly, he was no longer able to do so, having passed away at the age of 69, but his name will still be heard in Veszprém when the Róbert Rátonyi Operetta Festival begins in June.

From time to time, the Petőfi Theatre of Veszprém brings the immortal pieces of the operetta world to Veszprém with the greatest operetta performers.

The Old Summer, Baroness Lili, Sissi, the Hungarian Queen, Countess Marica, to name but a few of the past repertoire, all of which are performed in the illustrious building of the Petőfi Theatre in Veszprém, but the organisers do not stop at the gates of the theatre, they also organise operetta performances in several cult venues of Veszprém and on the shores of Lake Balaton every year as part of the Róbert Rátonyi Operetta Festival.

For the detailed programmes and performers of each anual Róbert Rátonyi Operetta Festival, see the Monthly Programme menu for that year.
