Veszprém – One day isn’t enough, one evening is a must

A single day in Veszprém? Come on, that’s just a teaser! The city’s atmosphere, its historic streets and vibrant cultural life truly come to life only if you stay for at least one evening. We've put together 2- and 3-day itineraries to make every moment of discovery an experience to remember – whether it's exhibitions, concerts, cosy dinners or strolls through the city's hidden corners. Immerse yourself in the diversity of Veszprém – and enjoy the moment, together.

Day 1

  • Arrive in the morning
  • Discover Veszprém with the Tourinform audioguide tour or join a guided themed walk.
  • Take in the panoramic views from the Fire Lookout Tower – one of the most stunning vantage points in the city.
  • Lunch on the charming Óváros Square, home to several excellent restaurants and bistros.
  • Step beyond reality at CODE – Digital Experience Space with its interactive exhibitions.
  • Stroll around the castle area: discover the Love Island, then enjoy a breathtaking sunset from Benedict Hill.

  • Dinner at Fricska, right by the Séd stream, offering a unique view of the illuminated castle.
  • Evening entertainment: choose from the current programmes at Hangvilla or the Petőfi Theatre, or visit a cosy bar (Papírkutya, Wine & Vinyl, Pekedli) for live music and a drink.

Day 2

  • After breakfast, hop on a V-Bike and let the adventure begin!
  • Search for the Kolodko mini sculptures, then cycle the enchanting Cloisters and Gardens walkway.

  • Return your bike at the docking station on Óváros Square and relax with a coffee and cake at a nearby café.
  • Visit the Dungeon Visitor Centre and delve into the unique world of the “Man Behind Bars” interactive exhibition.
  • Have lunch in the Mediterranean-style garden of Oliva Restaurant.
  • End the day with a real mill experience by visiting the recently renovated Fenyves Mill.

Day 1

  • Arrive in the morning
  • Get to know Veszprém with the Tourinform audioguide tour or join a guided themed walk.
  • Enjoy the panoramic views of the city from the Fire Lookout Tower.
  • Visit the House of Arts, explore the Vass Collection or check out the current exhibitions.
  • Lunch at Historia Malomkert, with stunning views of the castle.
  • Walk beneath the castle: explore the Love Island and the atmospheric streets nearby.
  • Before dinner, watch a good film at the FOTON Audiovisual Centre.
  • Dine at one of the cosy restaurants in downtown, and if you’re up for more, enjoy live music at a bar (Papírkutya, Wine & Vinyl, Pekedli) with a tasty drink.

Day 2

  • After breakfast, head out into nature! Walk the Cloisters and Gardens route, climb the Rovaniemi Stairs to the top of Gulya Hill and enjoy the views from the Gizella Lookout Tower.

  • While on Gulya Hill, don’t miss the Veszprém Zoo! Feed deer, pet farm animals and admire big cats, bears, penguins, seals – and all the rest.
  • Lunch at the zoo – enjoy the fresh air and natural surroundings.
  • After your zoo adventure, cool off with “Balaton’s best ice cream” at Füge Ice Cream Parlour.
  • Looking for a bit more action? Try bowling at the Völgyikút House.
  • Dinner at Gusto 13 – a perfect choice for a delicious and elegant evening.
  • Wrap up your day with a show at Hangvilla or the Petőfi Theatre.

Day 3

  • In the morning, visit the Laczkó Dezső Museum, where the interactive “Memory Machine” exhibition introduces you to Veszprém’s history, and don’t miss the unique prehistoric tablet-toothed turtle fossil – a world exclusive.
  • After the museum, take a walk along Erzsébet Promenade and climb up to Szent Miklós-szeg, where the ruins of a 12th-century church await.
  • For lunch, try Neapolitan pizza at Pizza Rossa.
  • As a finale to your Veszprém experience, step beyond reality once more at the CODE – Digital Experience Centre.
